White distilled vinegar is a useful product. Everyone knows of its uses in cooking, but vinegar has many other uses you’d never think of as well. Some of them will totally surprise you.
1. Stop static cling
Adding just a ½ cup of vinegar to your laundry water will reduce static and prevent lint from clinging to your clothes.
2. Brighten up dingy socks
If you’re tired of your white socks looking gray, soak them in a solution made by pouring a cup of vinegar in a pot of water. Bring the solution to a boil, place in the soiled socks, and let them sit overnight. In the morning your socks will look like new.
3. Liven up flowers
When your cut flowers start to droop, add two tablespoons of white vinegar and a teaspoon of sugar to a quart of water. Pour the solution into your vase and watch your flowers perk up.
4. Relieve itchy mosquito bites
When a cotton ball soaked in vinegar is placed on bug bites, the itchiness goes away almost immediately.
5. Deice your car windows
If you don’t want to spend time scraping ice off your car windows on cold mornings, coat them with a solution of three parts vinegar to one part water. The acidity in the vinegar will hinder ice production.
6. Fix DVDs
Fix a skipping or scratched DVD by wiping it down with a soft cloth soaked in vinegar. Make sure the DVD is completely dry before placing it in the player.
7. Erase crayon
A toothbrush or sponge dipped in vinegar can work wonders at getting crayon marks off of walls or floors
8. Soften feet
Forget going to an expensive spa, soaking your feet for 20 minutes a day in a solution of one part vinegar to two parts warm water will leave your feet soft, smooth and callus-free.
9. Cure the hiccups
Swallowing a full tablespoon of vinegar will instantly stop your hiccups.
10. Soothe a sore throat
Soothe a sore throat by gargling with a glass of water that is mixed with a teaspoon of vinegar.
11. Deodorize the air
Spray vinegar in a room and it will naturally deodorize the air.
12. Clean leather
Leather can be cleaned with a mixture of vinegar and linseed oil. Rub mixture into leather and wipe clean.
13. Eliminate onion odor
Rubbing your hands with vinegar before and after slicing onions will reduce the odor.
14. Diet aid
Sprinkling a little vinegar on your food before eating will help to suppress your appetite.
15. Relieve sunburn
Rubbing sunburned skin with vinegar will temporarily relieve the sting.
16. Kill weeds
Spray full-strength vinegar on weeds and they will die.
17. Remove stickers
Stubborn sticker or decal glue is easily removed by covering it with a cloth soaked in vinegar.
18. Make nail polish last longer
Wipe nails with vinegar before you paint them. Your manicure will last lots longer.
19. Loosen a rusty screw
Pour a little vinegar on a rusty screw and it will loosen immediately.
20. Brighten your hair
Once a month rinse a tablespoon of vinegar through your hair. It will remove product buildup and liven up your hair
