Lake County YMCA West End Adventure Guides Program gives parents and children (ages 6 and older) the opportunity to develop healthy relationships, gain a sense of belonging, and learn the importance of giving back to the community.
“Kids and parents in our Adventure Guides develop strong bonds that support self-esteem and communication skills, setting the foundation for positive, lifelong relationships. Families spend quality time together, emphasizing the vital role that a parent plays in the development of a child,” said Erin Pinkston, Youth Development Director at the West End Y.
Kids also learn the importance of giving back to the community through one‑on‑one interactions, activities with other families, and community service projects. They learn to be healthy and caring individuals, peers, and role models through opportunities to teach, learn, and demonstrate positive values. Some of the adventures planned include Father-Daughter dance, camping/overnight trips, historical trips, and community service and holiday themed events.
