The local chapter of the National Audubon Society will begin adapting how they present monthly speaker programs when they offer their first virtual public meeting. Chris Mentrek, astronomy naturalist with Geauga Park District, will share stories about “Birds in Space: Birds in Constellations and Starlore” at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 15. Viewers will learn how birds showed up in the astronomical knowledge of Native Americans of the Great Lakes region, play a “name that bird” quiz, explore the bird-related modern constellations, and even meet some birds that have literally gone into space. Anyone interested in hearing the free presentation can register on the event page of blackbrookaudubon.org. Email questions to email@example.com.
The program is open to all. Follow Blackbrook Audubon Society on Facebook. Blackbrook Audubon covers Ashtabula, Geauga and Lake counties.
