Ferrante Winery will host a fun evening of fine wines and delicious cuisine during their Trolley Tour and Dinner Event on Sundays Oct. 5 and 12. Your afternoon will begin with a tour of several of nearby Ashtabula County’s historic covered bridges.  After the informative tour, guests will return to the Winery to enjoy a delicious cavatelli dinner. Tours are timed at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. each Sunday. Adult tickets are $25, while children’s tickets for kids 10 years old and under are $18. Contact Alyssa at 440-466-8466 or alyssa@ferrantewinery.com to make your reservation or for more information.

On Friday, Oct. 9, Grand River Cellars will host a Wine Country Progressive Dinner. The evening will begin at Grand River Cellars, where diners will enjoy a caramelized onion and apple grilled cheese sandwich appetizer and a seasonal salad. The special salad will feature roasted squash, candied pumpkin seeds, feta cheese and a maple vinegrette. Then, diners will proceed to Debonne Vineyards, where they’ll be served their main entrée of bourbon maple pork loin with sweet potato and roasted Brussel sprouts.

Dessert from Gartman Bakery will be served at South River Vineyards. Special wines will be chosen and paired with each course, and a vegetarian option will be available. Seating is very limited, and requires payment of $49.50 per person in advance. Call Grand River Cellars at 440-466-3485 for more information.

On Saturday, Oct. 31, Grand River Cellars will host a Halloween Party. They encourage visitors to dress in their best costume for an evening of ghouls and goblins, ghosts and witches. A costume contest will be held, with prizes awarded for the best overall costume, best-dressed group, and best-dressed individual. The winery will be decked out for this festive evening, and live music will help you have a wickedly good time. If you plan to attend, reservations are highly recommended.

October is a wonderful time to experience local wineries. With Ohio wineries as varied as the colorful leaves that are falling, you just may have to make plans to visit several this season.
