Did you know there are well over 400 species of Ohio birds recorded thus far? Lots of birds! Learning them all may seem like an impossibility, but there are actually many people who DO know the ones in their area and can quickly identify them.
New birders can learn to do the same by using an elimination process which involves placing the mystery bird into increasingly smaller groups until they arrive at the correct identity.
Seasoned birders can recognize a bird visually as well as know their songs – or screeches as the case may be! Beginning birders will learn what their new feathered friends look like then move into their vocalizations, allowing them to identify way more species.
If you have any interest in birding, which can not only be fun, but also provide some exercise and become a life long activity that could take you far and wide – here’s an event for you!
