Olympic Brass, one of the Cleveland area’s finest brass quintets, returns to Chardon for its sixth annual “Silver Bells” concert on Friday, December 20th. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Rd, Chardon, OH 44024. Carols, classics and a sing-along make this a joyous event for the whole family. The church is handicap-accessible with free on-site parking. There is no admission charge; a freewill offering will be taken. For more information about Olympic Brass visit www.jcsherman.net/olympic-brass. For more information about the concert call Greg Hillis at 440-645-5726.
The members of Olympic Brass are all top pros from the Cleveland area – Amanda Bekeny and Eric Dina, trumpets; Greg Hillis, horn; Eric Rowles, trombone; and J.c. Sherman, tuba. Devin Roark will be substituting on trombone for this concert. The group uses a wide array of historical and unique instruments and many of the arrangements they play are written by members of the group. This year’s concert will feature new arrangements of “Go Tell it on the Mountain” and “This Christmas,” music from the Charlie Brown and Grinch animated Christmas specials, and other traditional and familiar holiday favorites.
Pastor of Celebration Lutheran Church, Laura Barbins, says, “We are very excited to be hosting this concert for the community.” Horn player Greg Hillis, who is a native of Chardon, says, “We’re grateful that Celebration Lutheran opened its doors to us for the concert this year. It’s always a joy for me to get to play in my hometown and see so many familiar friendly faces in the audience.”
