Families are encouraged to bring canned goods to support End 68 Hours of Hunger.
Thursday, July 14 the Lake County Captains will be host to the first Northeast Ohio Travel Softball Day at Classic Park presented by Mentor Nissan. All travel softball players will receive a complimentary game ticket, courtesy of Mentor Nissan and their families can purchase additional discount tickets for $8 each. The Captains will face Dayton. All players, teams and their families will be sitting together in a reserved section.
To receive a free player ticket, email your name, contact information and team you play for to Morgan Mattimore at mmattimore@captiansbaseball.com. Morgan can also assist with ticket purchases and/or provide the promo code for additional ticket purchases. The evening event will begin at 6:00pm with check in and ticket pick up at Guest Services at Classic Park (35300 Vine Street in Eastlake). Players are encouraged to wear their uniforms and participate in an on-field pre-game parade at 6:20pm.
As part of the evening celebration, team players and their families are asked to bring a food donation to the ballpark in support of End 68 Hours of Hunger. “Mentor Nissan has focused our energy around helping End 68 Hours of Hunger collect food donations as they gear up for the start of the school year,” states Managing Partner, Ray Sminchak. The food collected will be put in the hands of school children weekly to carry them through the weekend. Without the weekend food supply, many children would go hungry for 68 hours each week.
“We are thrilled to be able to orchestrate an event where young athletes can be an active part of a solution by donating food to help students of their similar age,” states Sminchak. “The work that this organization performs weekly is admirable and we are happy to help where we can.”
Items that are needed are: canned fruit, peanut butter, soup, canned pasta, granola bars, pop tarts, oatmeal, small boxes of bagged cereal mac and cheese and Ramen.
