Where to Turn to When It Is Your Turn to Care

Stella NsongElder Care Expert and founder of The Caregiver Relief Network Stella Nsong states that caregiving is the “greatest act of love.” When you are called upon to care for an elder, it is important to have a plan and to be prepared for all of the stress and strain caregiving can bring into your life. The Caregiver Relief Network began in 2014 for that exact purpose.

A service provided by The Caregiving Institute, a 501(c) 3 organization Nsong began in 2003; The Caregiver Relief Network is the largest global online community for caregivers. Nsong states that what it provides is “on-the-spot, practical solutions for caregivers.” Research shows that caregivers are often under a great deal of stress that reflects poorly upon their quality of life. The Caregiver Relief Network will help you by walking through all of your options as a caregiver and assist you with generating a plan that works best for you and your loved one.

Nsong gives caregiving three names, The Silent Productivity Killer, The Relationship Destroyer and The Career Destroyer. The stress and responsibility of caregiving can cause caregivers to be less productive at work, worrying about their loved one, can cause marriages to break up due to the inability to spend quality time together and it can cause caregivers to refuse promotions or even quit their jobs. These are just a few of the many reasons why caregivers need support.

The Caregiver Relief Network offers resources that will help caregivers generate a caregiving plan that works for their lifestyle to reduce stress. Nsong’s goal has been to teach people how to turn caregiving into a gratifying experience, making it enjoyable so that caregivers can thrive.
