Spin, Guess, and Win! A Reading Adventure with Mentor Public Library at the KidShow

The Mentor Public Library is bringing its passion for literacy and community engagement to the KidShow! With a strong commitment to fostering a love of reading in children, the library offers an array of story times, special programs, and interactive activities for kids of all ages.

Exciting Activities at the KidShow

Visit us at the Kids Counter at the top of the Food Court from 11 AM – 1 PM to participate in a fun and engaging game—spinning the wheel to guess a book character! Kids love the challenge, especially when they recognize a character before their parents do. In addition, there will be a craft activity for children to enjoy.

Programs and Services for the Community

Between its main location and three branches, the library provides seven weekly story times and a variety of special programs, clubs, and passive programming throughout the month. Families can check out games to play in the library, take home activity backpacks, and utilize sensory bags during visits.

All story times and programs at the library are free. Story times require no registration, and programs are limited in size to ensure children receive personal attention.

Summer Reading Challenge

One of the library’s biggest annual events is the Summer Reading Challenge, kicking off on May 30 and running through July 26. Children can sign up and receive a reading log, earning raffle tickets for every hour they read. These tickets can be placed in various prize bags, with winners drawn at the end of the program. Along the way, kids receive additional reading incentives, making summer reading fun and rewarding. The program is open to both readers and non-readers, encouraging children to develop a love for books and explore new genres. Best of all, you don’t need to be a Mentor resident to participate!

Community Involvement and Future Plans

The Mentor Public Library actively engages with local schools, preschools, and daycare centers, offering monthly story times and partnering with organizations for collaborative programs. A special highlight includes a monthly story time with the Mentor Fire Department, further connecting children with their community.

A particularly exciting summer reading prize is an exclusive opportunity for a child and their parent to participate in a sleepover at the library in August! Additionally, the library is undergoing a major renovation, creating more green space for the community, including a Pollinator Garden and an outdoor stage for future programs.
